The Copernicus Marine Service provides some satellite observation WIND products, both NearRealTime and MutilYear.

These data are collected using optical scatterometer's observations, based on active microwave radars sensing, enable observation in all weather conditions.

The reason for missing data is due to general problems with the satellites, most often short periods when no data is received from the satellite.

For these WIND products, "each datafile contains scatterometer observations over a particular day, aggregated from either all ascending or descending satellite tracks.

In cases of satellite anomalies that last longer than a calendar day, no data is available for that day and the datafile is not generated." (QUID for Global Oceans Wind Product, page 35/40).
Some daily analysis can thus miss in the database.
